SPD (formerly Society for the Physically Disabled) is a charity that has been serving people with disabilities for 54 years. Our aim is to work with people with disabilities to develop their potential to the fullest so that they can be self-reliant and independent, and integrate them into mainstream society. An Institution of Public Character (IPC – all donations to SPD are tax-deductible), we serve people born with or who acquired disabilities, from the very young to the elderly, working towards our vision of a community where everyone, regardless of abilities, is a part of all.
SPD today operates from six locations islandwide, running about 20 programmes that encompass early intervention, therapy, training, assistive technology, day care, and educational, employment and social support for people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities. Our support is also extended to family members and caregivers to ensure a better network of care for people with disabilities.
